State of the Nation Address 2018

State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2018 was held on July 23, 2018, which broke the tradition of highlighting the previous year accomplishments, but instead, the iron-first leader addressed as the "Father of Filipinos", and focused on desire for genuine and meaningful change for that Filipinos.

For me, the top topics mentioned by President Duterte's SONA is, number one, war on drugs, the war on drugs is far from over. It is important to keep on eye on this situation because it is taming over the Filipinos safety. Another is human rights. Human rights means giving Filipinos, especially those at society's fringes, a decent and dignified future through the social and physical infrastructures necessary to better their lives. On international relations, we shall continue to assert an independent foreign policy. Our friendship with China does not mean that we are waiving our right to the West Philippine Sea. Migrant workers. We admire our Filipino migrant workers for their selflessness and courage in enduring the hardships of living away from home to provide for their families. It is our President's duty to make sure that OFWs are well being remains our foremost foreign policy concern. Next is Train/Tax. We need train for sustainable growth that leaves no Filipino behind. It is already helping poor families and senior citizens cope with rising prices. And lastly, health, much needs to be done to improve our health care system, which remains highly fragmented. While investments in health care increased, over the past years, several policy ad operational bottlenecks have constrained universal healthcare in the Philippines.

This SONA serves as a lesson to the Filipinos to encourage to make a change in order to have a better community and to mirror the excellency of our President.
